Village Hall
New Committee Member Needed
The village hall is seeking new committee member for Treasurer, if you would be interested in helping run this important asset for the village please contact Nick Knowles on 07802 736192.
It is not onerous, we have four meetings a year and run two fun fundraising events.
The Defibrillator
The defibrillator (AED) in the telephone box near the Village Hall is up and running. The code for access to the AED cabinet is C2589X, but before using it, a call should always be made to the emergency services. They will be able to give out the code if needed, as well as mobilise the ambulance service. This code is also available in telephone box.
PLEASE NOTE the defibrillator needs to be used in conjunction with CPR. It will not save a life on its own. If you don't know how to do CPR, there are frequent, excellent Heartstart courses run by Oundle Rotary Club (www.oundle.info.) There have been two recent Heartstart courses in Glapthorn, giving basic first aid training, including an insight into how the AED works. However, anyone who needs it will be able to use the device from instructions given by the machine itself.

Fund Raising
Fund raising is essential to maintain the Village Hall.
In order to improve the experience of all our visitors the Management Committee has recently installed acoustic panels to minimise sound reverberation and replaced the heating system throughout the hall. The works, costing £6,800, have been made possible by generous grants from: The National Lottery, Market Harborough Building Society, W.H. Smith Community Fund, Glapthorn Parish Council, Royal Oak Club and fund-raising activities of the Village Hall Management Committee.

The Village Hall opened in 2002 replacing the original wooden construction hall that had served the community since 1926. The new building was funded through a Community Fund award, Landfill Tax grants (Shanks & Cory Environmental Trust), Northamptonshire County Council, ENC and Pearl Assurance along with community fund raising activity. The development project was managed by the then Village Hall Committee led by Graham Sands (Chair).
